Nicholas Johnson is a historical musicologist and specialist in music of the 16th and 17th centuries and 21st-century popular music. As a Fulbright and Mellon scholar, Dr. Johnson’s research has centered on intersections between music and the history of science in Vienna and Prague, as well as critical philosophy. He has presented research at international conferences and several times at the annual meeting of the American Musicological Society. Dr. Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Musicology at Butler University, where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses on music history through the 18th century, Viennese opera, and research and archival methods.
