Is currently full Professor of Voice Performance at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria and the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna.
Born in New York, he performed his first leading roles in drama and musical productions. After graduating Bachelor of Music Education magna cum lauda from the Eastman School of Music (studying voice with Anna Kaskas) he obtained his Master of Music in Voice Performance at the University of Michigan (studying with Eva Likova ).
Further intensive opera training for three years at the Lake George Opera Studio with Cynthia Auerbach. He received his Master of Arts in Lied and Oratorio at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (studying with Anton Dermota and Gerhard Kahry). Advanced further vocal studies with Carol Blaickner-Mayo, Hilde Zadek, Elena Nicolaidi, Sena Jurinac, Andrea Mellis, Glenys Linos and Cornelius Reid.
His operatic repertoire ranges from Baroque to Modern, having portrayed several major roles internationally. He has sung as a soloist with orchestra in all of the major concert halls of Vienna with renowned conductors (Luciano Berio, Lothar Zagrosek, Erwin Ortner) His debut at the Salzburg Music Festival1985 was in the opera "Saint Francois d'Assise" by Olivier Messiaen, with the composer present, the cast including Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. A CD recording exists of this performance.
Sebastian Vittucci trained intensively for four years in the Feldenkrais Method® and received his official license as a Practitioner in 1995 by the International Feldenkrais Foundation. He has also been trained in -Spiral Dymamics ´level one.
For the past thirty-five years Sebastian Vittucci has been teaching singing in Vienna. Since 1995 he has also taught as a Feldenkrais Practitioner. In 1990 he was appointed to the voice teaching faculties of both the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and at the Konservatorium Wien (currently named MUK – Music and Arts Private University of Vienna) where he developed and taught the course "Feldenkrais® for Singers”. Vittucci was appointed 1995 Head of Vocal Studies at the Konservatorium and held this position until 2000 when he was appointed full Professor of Voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Several of the singing students trained by Sebastian Vittucci have won several important international competitions and are have been hired by major international opera companies including the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala Milano, Vienna State Opera, Vienna Volksoper, among many others.
Sebastian Vittucci’s personally developed voice teaching method “Belcanto Balancing” is based on the old Italian Belcanto singing traditions combined with the learning principles of the Feldenkrais Method® . It has been proven very successful now for over two decades.
