Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria/Spain. She studied voice at the Conservatory in her hometown and worked as a soloist in the ballet of Las Palmas. Sylvia Saavedra-Edelmann completed her Master of Arts-studies in vocal pedagogy with distinction. She continued studying In Barcelona with Tatiana Menotti and Juan Oncina.
Since 1995 she has worked as a singing teacher at the Fundacion Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria and directed the children's choir at the opera of Las Palmas. Followed by performances in operas, operettas, zarzuelas and numerous concerts.
1995 Sylvia Saavedra-Edelmann founded the Opera Studio in Las Palmas.
1998 she moved to Berlin and in 2001 to Vienna. Here she workes as a singing teacher. She is co-founder and organizer of the ottoedelmannsociety OES, established in 2006, numerous events such as concerts and workshops for young singers. It focuses on the advice of the young artists that self-management concerns, rights and responsibilities of young singers and the way to the audition. She also organizes concerts at home and abroad.
Since 2012 she also teaches at the Vienna Conservatory Gustav Mahler an Richard Wagner Konservatorium. She is the founder and artistic director of plusopera.
