Terms and conditions

1. Applying

• Applications for summer 2027 are open until March 15, 2027, or until a program fills. Priority is given to those who apply first.
• Anyone 18 or older is eligible to apply.
• Your application is complete once the $35 application fee is paid. Every applicant is then contacted for a phone or video interview.
• The information you send must be your own and true. The festival may withdraw an offer that was based on false information.

2. Program fee and payment

• The program fee includes housing at The Social Hub for the program dates, private lessons and coachings, facilities, faculty, masterclasses, visiting guests and cultural excursions. Travel to and from Vienna, meals and personal costs are not included.
• Opera Institute: €4,750 for applications submitted by December 31, 2026 (Early Bird), €5,250 for applications submitted from January 1, 2027. Instrumental Program: €4,250 Early Bird, €4,750 from January 1, 2027. The price is fixed on the day you submit your application.
• Your offer of acceptance shows your program fee, any scholarship, and the amount and date of each payment.
• A $500 deposit holds your place and is due within 10 business days of your offer. The rest of the program fee is paid in two payments, 30 and 60 days after the deposit.
• If a payment is not made by its due date, the festival may release your place.

3. No refunds

• All payments are final and non-refundable: the application fee, the deposit and every payment of the program fee.
• This includes withdrawing before or during the festival, arriving late or leaving early, not being able to travel, and visa refusals.
• Scholarships apply only to summer 2027, have no cash value and cannot be transferred.
• If the festival itself cancels a program, it refunds the deposit and the program fee paid for that program. The application fee is not refunded.

4. The program

• The festival may change repertoire, roles, casting, schedules, faculty and venues. Such changes are not a reason for a refund.
• You are responsible for your own travel, any visa you need, and health insurance valid in Austria for your stay.
• Housing at The Social Hub follows the hotel's house rules. You pay for any damage you cause.
• Students treat colleagues, faculty, staff and venues with respect. The festival may dismiss a student for serious misconduct, without a refund.

5. Photos and recordings

• The festival photographs, films and records rehearsals, classes and performances, and may use these images and recordings to present the festival, without payment.
• Students may not record performances for sale or broadcast without the festival's written permission.
