Meet Kai Boennighausen, oboist

Kai Boennighausen is an oboist and English hornist in Berkeley. They graduated from UC Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in Music in 2023, and now studies privately with Juliana Gaona Villamizar to develop their musicality further in preparation for graduate studies. Kai was drawn to the oboe at the age of twelve because of its uniquely brilliant tone and hasn't been able to put it down since. Apart from studying the oboe, Kai works as the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra's head librarian, and events coordinator for Alfred Hertz Memorial Hall of Music, and an archival assistant to Jonathan Elkus.

Come see him perform this July in the Vienna Summer Music Festival!
