Meet Alyssa Rinaldi, undergraduate cellist

Alyssa Rinaldi is an undergraduate cellist from Connecticut, now studying Music and Education at the University of California, Berkeley. Her musical journey started on the East Coast, but since moving to the Bay Area, she’s been diving into various musical experiences.

At UC Berkeley, Alyssa plays in the Philharmonia Orchestra and is part of celli@berkeley, a fun and tight-knit group of over twenty cellists who explore a wide range of music together. She also performs in a piano-clarinet-cello trio, where she gets to collaborate closely and perform music by composers like Clara Schumann and Louise Farrenc.

Outside of performing, Alyssa teaches private cello lessons through The Music Connection, working with students of all ages around the Bay Area. Teaching has become a big part of how she connects with others and shares her love for music.

She’s also experimented with composition and loves improvising on the cello in her free time. After the pandemic, she organized and performed in a Climate Change Concert called Music Exchange for Climate Change, using music to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire community engagement. Alyssa is inspired to become a music educator and is passionate about using music as a tool for connection, creativity, and positive change.

Come see them perform this July in the Vienna Summer Music Festival!
