Meet Aubrey Williamson, graduate student

From Norwalk, Iowa, Aubrey Williamson is a graduate student of Dr. Terri Sanchez at the University of Missouri - Kansas City Conservatory, studying Flute Performance and Pedagogy. Aubrey is committed to promoting the works of diverse, underrepresented composers through chamber ensembles. She is a member of the Illumoria Trio and the Topaz Quartet, both chamber ensembles at the UMKC Conservatory. The Topaz Flute Quartet was invited to perform this May in South Bend, Indiana at Fischoff, one of the largest United States chamber music competitions. Aubrey performs frequently as a substitute piccoloist and flutist for the Topeka, Kansas Symphony. In 2022 and 2023, she received honorable mentions as a finalist for the University of Northern Iowa Concerto Competition, where she received her Bachelor of Flute Performance. Aubrey was also a finalist at the 2024 Fort Dodge Area Symphony Young Artist Competition. She enjoys collaborating often with student composers, teaching her flute students, and performing around the Kansas City area. She plans to continue her education in flute performance and pursue a Doctorate of Musical Arts after she graduates from UMKC in May 2026. Away from music, Aubrey loves to read, craft, travel, and work on writing her fantasy book.

Come see her perform this July in the Vienna Summer Music Festival!
