Meet Joshua Strobel, performer

Joshua Strobel is performer, educator, and composer based in Hattiesburg, MS. He is currently pursuing a BM in oboe performance and BME in instrumental music education at The University of Southern Mississippi under Dr. Pablo Hernandez, and studies composition with Kincaid Rabb. He is deeply interested in pursuing a holistic approach to music education, emphasizing strong performance standards, the intersection and application of various genre study, and contributing one's artistic voice through ambitious creative projects.

Joshua has spent the last several years performing in the school's Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, alongside numerous other chamber groups which have participated in and won competitions. Additionally, he has had several pieces be performed in faculty and student recitals at USM, and is actively writing commissions for new works and arrangements. He also assists the regional Gulf Coast Chamber Ensembles program, serving high school double reed players.

Joshua hopes to continue sharing and developing his voice in the classical music space, and is excited for the opportunity to inspire a new generation of students with a similar love for music.

Come see them perform this July in the Vienna Summer Music Festival!
