Meet Gale Creighton, undergraduate

Gale Creighton is currently an undergraduate at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign School of Music under Professor John Dee. They have performed for five years with the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra on both flute and oboe, and have additionally performed with the Wheaton Municipal Band and Fox Valley Orchestra. This year is their first time performing with the Vienna Summer Music Festival, as well as their first time performing abroad.

Gale is an avid lover of the Arts, and is always happy to attend performances and go to art museums. At UIUC, they are beginning to delve into the world of historical performance on top of their studies in modern oboe. They look forward to receiving their Bachelor’s degree in oboe performance, where they hope to go on and make a career out of playing in pit orchestras for ballet, opera, and musicals. They have been deeply inspired by teachers in their past, and they hope to continue inspiring young people into performance through teaching.

Gale is from the Chicagoland area, and has two cats and a dog at home. Outside of music, they love to watch movies and TV shows with their family, as well as to help build theatrical sets at their local community college with their friends.

Come see them perform this July in the Vienna Summer Music Festival!
